The Susan Kennedy Conundrum

This from Straitshooter, currently in an undisclosed location:

Ok. I am a Democrat -- the secret is out. But when do you put your Party aside to tackle real issues affecting people? Well Susan Kennedy, former top staffer of the California Democratic Party in 1992 and Cabinet Secretary for Gray Davis has decided that the chance to be at the helm of the Governor's Office is worth it -- regardless of what name is on the letterhead.

So, yes, I applaud Kennedy for putting partisanship aside in order to take charge of the mess the Republican Governor and his Wilson cronies have unleashed on California. She is going to do great things for this state, period.

But (and it's a big but)...on the other hand, as a party activist, I am hurt. This is the woman who said that she gets off sticking to insurance companies -- and now she is working for the insurance company hatchet man? This is the woman who watched her boss get kicked out of office by the very man she is now working for. This is the woman who worked with Phil Angelides on getting California to its "bluest" point and now she is going to be helping to keep him out of office...

I know -- I am a Democrat because we "do what's right." But sometimes it would be nice to win!

Comments:
How the hell can Kennedy sign on with Schwarzenegger only a month after he vetoed Leno's equal marriage legislation? I mean, I'm sure she enjoyed her trip to Hawaii with her partner to get married, but wouldn't she prefer to do it in her own back yard?

I agree with anonymous .... it appears Kennedy is a hired gun going to the highest bidder. She'll be able to rake in the Rep dough after this experiment goes down in flames. Plus, at the press conference, she said she voted in favor of all the Guv's props. A gay woman she may be, but she's driving hard to the center so she can look like a DINO to complement Arnold's RINO.
